On my ferrets back hes losing his hair, it got all over his hamock, and when you pet him or pull a little at his coat, hair comes out. Hes only about 2, is he just shedding, or does he have adrenal disease? =[ Please help me!
PS- His cage is by a window, if that means anything.

If it is starting to get warmer where you live (spring into summer months) it is probably just shedding. Make sure to offer your ferret a ferret laxative, Vaseline, or pumpkin to insure he does not get any blockages from the hair. It is also normal for ferrets to 'thin out' during this time as well. Like most animals they trim down for spring and summer and fatten up for winter.
If your ferret looks as though he is actually balding or getting bald spots then you have something to worry about. If a ferret is prone to acquire any of the popular ferret illnesses, it usually happens between the ages of 2 and 4. Look for any of the other signs of adrenal disease other then just normal hair loss. You can find some good information on ferrets at the following web site: http://www.ferretuniverse.com
Most importantly if you are really concerned make an appointment for the vet. It is the only way you will know for sure. Sometimes piece of mind is priceless.
Good luck and I'm sure he is fine!

The ferret should be eating a fortified diet recommened by the American Ferret Association. Check the animal for fleas or animal lice/mites. The ferret should be bathed about once every 3 weeks with ferret shampoo to maintain the oils in the fur. Losing hair in that amount is not normal. A vet visit is recommended and inexpensive. Ferrets generally live 7-10 years.

The best thing to do would be ask your vet. or if you dont have a vet ask someone you know that have some experiance with ferrets.
I suggest that he might just be shedding out his coat. Because if he looks and acts healthy he should be fine.

YOur ferret must be having an allergic reaction. Visit the vet and they will help you decide what might be causing it.
Go soon if this condition continues your ferret will get weaker and weaker.... but go asap and your friend will survive

they probably have an adrenal gland disease my ferret had it too, the hair will fall then grow back, sometimes it wont grow back but this doesn't hurt them.

He could have gotten Mange. If so take him to your vet. Or is could be some kind of virus that has infected his skin or coat...These are dangerous to you and anyone who touches him
