It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know he did or still does steroids. Anyone who says otherwise needs to get their head examined. That being said....Does he deserve special honors with breaking home run title? I think absolutely not! Even Hank Aaron will not acknoledge Barry's run. And even baseball , in general, is turning thier head.

im not gonna be too happy but im not gonna be pissed off either
see steroids help you hit the ball farther, yeah, but you still need to swing a bat the same way as everyone else does you still need to have a good eye and all to hit the ball into the stands
all in all if he didnt take steroids i think that most of the balls he hit for homers wouldve been monster doubles or triples or flyouts
GO RED SOX!!

Most of the players in the 90's and today are being labeled - played in the steroid era - So when he does break the record I'm sure there will be an asterisk next to his name just like when Marris broke Ruth's HR record (season). I totally agree with you he doesn't deserve a special honors, but, Bonds has never been caught using or tested positive for using steroids. So since there isn't any hard evidence on Bonds, Bud Selig has to be there. Hammering Hank doesn't have an obligation to be there and I don't blame him for not showing up!!!

Do you have physical proof that he in fact took steroids? Did you see him inject an illegal substance into his body? Then you do not "KNOW" that he took steroids or anything else for that matter. It is in your opinion, that you think that he took some kind of steroid or human growth hormone. I think that he did as well, but I do not know for sure.

That being said. I can not wait for him to break the record, and all this stuff will be over with. I am sick of it all. I don't like Barry Bonds, but he deserves the record. I say this because of the era in which he played. How many other sluggers were using steroids or HGH? How many pitchers that Bonds faced were using? Do you know? Does anyone know? If he faced pitchers that were using, and hit HR's off of them, isn't that a level playing field?

Baseball is made up in eras. For example, there was the deadball era. In this era, the ball was made differently, and pitchers were allowed to throw junk pitches (shine balls, spit balls, etc...). Isn't the era in which Bonds played the steroid era? I can guarentee that Bonds(if he did in fact take steroids or HGH) was not the only player taking these substances. Can you honestly say that every player on your favorite team was not taking steroids? I can't. In fact, my favorite team is the Phillies, and in 1993 when they went to the World Series, I would say that at least 1/4 of their starting roster was taking or had taken steroids at one time or another (my opinion). Does that stop me from liking the Phillies? Hell no!

Yes, I would like someone that is clean to take the HR crown, but that is not going to happen any time soon. Bonds, regardless if he took or not, is an amazing baseball player, and with or without steroids, one of the greatest hitters/players of all time. Let him break the record, and all this mess go away.

He will break it - and I dont like it one bit - but the basewall writers and balloters obviously dont like this sort of thing, either.

Mark McGwire, who brought Baseball back to America's homes after the greed the owners and players all showed in disagreeing on multi-million dollar salaries in 1994 (which has just gotten worse and worse), garned 23.5 percent of the vote - less than a 1/3 needed to enter the hall of fame, on his first ballot...

Barry Bonds may have the number of HRs needed to put a 1 next to his name in the all time list, but I, for one, think A-Rod, and Albert Pujols will take that "distinction" away from Bonds, assuming they both stay healthy (see K Griffey, Jr).

And as the years progress, Bonds will go down as the Egotistical, Megelo-maniacal, Loser that we all know he is.

And for the guy that asked about SEEING him do it - I do, anytime i want to look at his rookie card, and wonder why you would ever think he DIDNT do anything wrong - I mean BE A MAN AND ADMIT WHAT YOU DID - HE WILL NEVER EARN THE RESPECT HE WANTS UNTIL HE STANDS UP AND SAYS HE DID IT - does it make you hit a HR? I dont believe it does...Does it make you look and sound like a total IDIOT - uh...YES

Lets assume Bonds did use performance-enhancers...so what? Do you really think he was an exception in MLB? The league knew what was going on with many of these guys but they didn't care because baseball was generating excitement again (and more importantly to them, revenue). And based on that assumption on Bonds, how could we know how much it helped? Steroids can't improve your swing, stance or hand-eye coordination can it? If he hadn't taken steroids, do you think he'd be that far off from the record anyhow? I doubt it. I hate to go here but it's like the elephant in the room- because Bonds is Black, cocky and unfriendly to some reporters, it pisses alot people off that he's chasing a historic record. Like him or not, he's one of the best ever and the criticism put on him is way over the top in my opinion.

It will be the saddest day in baseball history , even sadder than 6/2/41
I for one will not watch Bond's act of blasphemy.
Ten or twenty years from now when Bonds' dies as a result of what we all know to be long term steroid abuse [ see Lyle Alzado ] some medical examiner will confirm our suspicions and MLB will have to modify their records accordingly.

i'm very pleased for Barry. i think of the guy could have carried out it in spite of what he could or won't have injected in his physique. no one talks approximately each and every of the residing house runs he hit till now he bulked up. besides that, who's to declare that Roger Maris and Babe Ruth did no longer take some style of overall performance improving drug or chemical? no one tracked that stuff at that component. Ruth became a below the impact of alcohol. right this moment, he could have been destroyed by utilising the media. it is a particular accomplishment that would not want each and every of the B.S. inspite of steroids, i understand i could no longer do a million/2 of what he has carried out as an athlete. So, he has an thoughts-set difficulty; so what? a minimum of he's no longer raping young women or being unapologetic approximately internet hosting canines fights. Bonds won't be a classification act, yet he's no longer the worst component to take place to expert activities. As for me being a "genuine" baseball fan, uh, yeah . . . do no longer even attempt and question me on that. i became virtually born at a baseball stadium (no longer an exaggeration). I spend maximum of my summers staring at AAA ball video games. i became born and raised a Cubs fan, and regardless of my finished hatred for Lou Pinella, I keep coming returned to the team for greater punishment (modern-day checklist aside). and that i can not stand "Cubs followers" interior the bleachers who come to get below the impact of alcohol particularly than watch the game. while i circulate to a game, i'm getting my nutrition till now it starts off, and that i do no longer circulate out of my seat as a results of fact i elect to reveal screen the game, no longer socialize. (do no longer take the tone individually. i'm getting extremely worked up approximately this subject remember.)

I think he will break the record sooner than later and I will be very disappointed. The guy doesn't deserve to break any records with his behavior and attitude.
