There have been MANY life experiences I've had that I've come out worse when being honest... I continue being honest anyway because it's who I want to be.

Honesty is a good thing, generally. In society, honesty is prized over dishonesty and for fairly obvious reasons. But is honesty always rewarding? Well even if your honesty is not appreciated by others, the potential pain and guilt you would cause yourself and others if you were DISHONEST does not outweigh the advantages from being honest.

Being honest puts yourself in a good position, so that you cannot be blamed (disregarding owning up to some serious crime you have committed) and you can feel good about yourself for having told the truth. What if the truth would damage someone? Well, depending on the circumstance, withholding the truth and telling a lie are two different things; in the long term, if you consistently told lies to help someone, if they eventually found out the truth, there might be more pain caused to some participant than if the truth had been told at the beginning.

Well done you - although I would have written to the bank saying how dissapointed you were in there response to your good deed though. Honesty is much easier to handle than the guilt trip though I am sure.

Yes it does. In this case, you have no guilt of robbing or ignoring someone. Forget the bank people, the owner must have been so grateful for what uve done and be sure that he or she must have blest u on receiving her card

no longer consistently, no, considering which you may get in hardship in case you're too truthful or in case you probably did something undesirable and are truthful approximately it - it particularly is undesirable. yet do purely no longer do something undesirable and you'd be ok and then honesty pays you your purely rewards - that are optimistically somethin' solid!

Honesty doesn't always pay if you EXPECT something in return.

Also, if ALL of humanity would have its priorities straight, then yes, honesty would always pay, but not in the material sense.

You can sleep at night knowing that you did the right thing. That is more important. Manners seem to be a lost art.

mostly I believe but depends on the situation, I wouldn;t necessarily be honest with a liar & a cheat, I'd hide the truth & play them at their own game without losing my dignity.
