I would like to open a childcare nursery in about 5 years as I want to save up money to fund it rather than getting a loan from the bank...

I have got all the relevant qualifications.

I have been searching for info on the internet as to how to go about this but I cannot find anything, would anyone know the best place to look?

Hi, there is a start-up guide here for a day nursery - that should be a good starting place http://www.startups.co.uk/Day_nursery.YTFuxXxoS63Ijg.html
Due to the nature of the business i would strongly suggest that you draw up a solid business plan even if you are not seeking funding to set the business up.
It's a good idea not to rush into something so big as this project, but 5 years is a long time.
You say you have all the relevant qualifications - but i bet these are childcare related ones?? i thought the same when i started my training business, i had lots of teaching qualifications - the thing i didn't have was any particular business skills or qualifications, admin skills, or knowledge of what running a business was actually like.
Over the next few years i'd gain some basic business skills and perhaps try to work in a business environment - even if it's only a few weeks 'work experience' or a few hours a month etc working voluntary, a small business setting would be ideal so you can see what a business owner/manager has to do - you will find that you have to wear many hats! - i do all teaching/tutoring, course development, bookkeeping, accounts, tax returns, admin, marketing, market research, IT, web-design & maintenance, and much more!!

I'd also suggest you contact your local business link to see what they can offer you, you can also get a copy of the government's no-nonsense guide to starting a business from their site on this link: http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?type=INT_PUBLICATION&itemId=1077839145&r.li=1079032774&atom_id=PR000057&r.pp=12&r.pt=global&r.s=p
Best of luck with your business venture!

In the US, try the Small Business Association. Contact the local government agencies for rules regarding the childcare business. Talk to people that are working in the industry for advice.

Your state or province should have everything you need to know to do it. Go in person to the local offices and ask them for the relavant paperwork, and other legal niceties you'll need.

You will also have to request a check of both the Child Abuse Registeries and a Criminal Background Checks. You will also have to re-pay every couple of years (or sooner) for subsequent checks.

The best thing is to contact your local authority and Ofsted. You will need to be registered with both.
