First, it's pretty clear that the people on the plane were on it for a reason - though I'm not sure if it's a supernatural reason ("fate" or "the island brought them there") or if they were just chosen by the organization that is interested in the Island (possibly DHARMA, possibly another group).
Two plausible explanations for the "discovery of the wreckage"...
1. The others and the Island faked the discovery in order to convince the survivors that there is no hope of rescue. This implies that the helicopter girl is really one of the others. This is not likely since Mikhail seemed genuinely surprised to run into her in the jungle, and Ben seemed surprised and interested when Mikhail reported the news to him.
2. The umbrella organization that controls operations on the Island (DHARMA, or another one) actually faked a wreckage discovery so that the rest of the world would stop looking for them. It's obvious that the Island has special properties, including the ability to "be invisible" to the rest of the world.
Don't worry about being confused - we all are - it's just a question of if you enjoy being confused by a show or not. Lost isn't for everyone!

Locke's father did say that, as well as the girl who landed on the island, Naomi. She said the plane was found off coast of Bali, and all the bodies were accounted for in the plane and were dead.

That is what Cooper thinks, not necessarily what is true.
THOUGH it does correspond to what Naomi said after she revived.
BUT, I do not think they are all dead. Different plane of existence maybe, but not dead.
Season Finale is May 23, 2007 here in the US.

All I've heard is that Locke and Jack have a big fight on the beach in the series finale - I'll keep checking back and see which other spoilers I can read (and then I'll be gutted I read them lol)
Edit: I just remembered that I heard Charlie dies (at long last)
Here you go - just found this spoilers website - it is Charlie and Tom (one of the others)
