Whats wrong with using a crib? Sleeping with them is a BAD habit to start and not easy on any marriage.
You just have to ignore her, I know it sounds bad, but she needs to learn. What we did with both of ours is just ignored it, if it got to where I couldn't take it anymore, I went in there and just rubbed and patted thier backs, but I DID NOT get them out of their cribs. They knew I was there and they were secure with what we did, it took a few days but soon they were both sound asleep on their own every night befor they were 6 and 7 months. Good Luck.
P.S. you might want to stock up on something for a headache as well.

My baby doesn't sleep unless i'm beside her either and it doesn't bother me. Babies need security and reassurance that you're there. God made babies cries so irritating so that we would come to them right away, I believe. If your daughter wants you to be there when she falls asleep then she's quite normal and sociable. You don't want a baby who doesn't care if you're there or not. You're the most important thing in her life right now....She defines herself through you right now and that reassurance and security is so important to her. I can't imagine parents that let their kids cry for more than ten minutes. I think it's horrible and cruel. Cherish the time she wants to be close to you, because there may be a day when she's slamming her door in your face telling you she needs her "space." Good luck!!! P.S. my son did the same thing and by the age of three he was sleeping in his own bed in his own room. It doesn't last forever....cherish it now.

have you tried giving her something else (a blanket, toy, etc) to hold onto? Start by snuggling her with her holding onto the new comfort item, once she takes to that, shorten the snuggle time every few days until she is ablt to go to sleep on her own

Its normal. Most infants need to be parented to sleep.
She will outgrow it on her own... until then, just enjoy the cuddle time you get.
I PROMISE, you won't have a teenager still needing to hold your finger to get to sleep...
Shes still so, so young... she has plenty of time to grow up, but right now, she needs you.

Maybe you should try getting her a soft teddy bear with your scent on it. That way she can hold on to the teddies thumb and it will remind her of you.

It sounds like she is siffering from seperation anxiety. But you need to break her of sleeping with you or its going to be going on until late in her teen years. What you need to do is place something with her when she goes to bed with your scent on it, maybe a shirt or snuggle up with her blanket. She really needs to be on her own at this point in time. You may need to break her of it by letting her go to bed, make sure she is clean, dry and belly is full and break her of the crying....Its going to be hard but sooner or later she will understand. But use the blanket or some shirt of yours with your scent, it will comfort her more when placing her to bed.
