How often should lime be spreaded out on lawns?

I put some out about four weeks ago, at the same time that I started my spring overseeding. And everthing is great, except for the fact that I have mushrooms popping up every where. I've already gotten the answer to that question, from a previously asked question. And so I decided to give my yard a good raking and a nice clean cut. Now, I'm thinking about putting some more lime down, in order to balance out any potential rot in the soil. But since I've already put some down, four weeks ago; I'm wondering am I doing too much.

You don't need any more lime just yet, wait until late Fall for another application if you have acidic soil. Once a year is probably sufficient.

Best bet for mushrooms is raking them out, then be sure you have adequate fertilization.

At the risk of being dragged into a forest and eliminated, I'll give you a straight answer. Lime Kitty is a guy who comes on Y!A in this section. His picture is a cat wearing a lime of some sort on his head. I don't get it either, but he's quite the big shot around here.

Limestone is used for raising pH when your soil is too acid. It doesn't prevent mushrooms or "rot in the soil."

Follow the directions on the bag. You cam also get a soil test kit at a garden supply store. It will indicate what your pH is. If it is still too acidic do another lime application.
