I have submitted my site to google. How do I have to wait before google assigns a page rank to my site? Other pages I see have 4, 5 & 6 out of 10 as a ranking.

First you must wait until your site is indexed and this can take some time even months and it all depends on your site's quality, relevancy and links from other similar and important sites.
Next, Google's page rank is updated every 3 months or so, but this is not a hard and fast rule.
To see whether you have been indexed, type in your full URL (http://www.yoursitename.com) into Google's search box and see the results.
Next time add your URL to the question so that we can see your site and give some more recommendations.

Google ranks pages - not web sites.
If you submitted the Google Site map then you need to wait for google to index your site. the page rank is a number that comes from the on site SEO and off site SEO
