I think if your bf is Thai, that will make a lot of difference, because then ethnically it will be a fit. But just as a name in general, in the US it is so unusual that I think he will be a lot of grief for it. How about Aron, which has some similar letters?
Or is there something that Anond means in Thai, that you could find a english translation for?
