lol I wondered the same thing when I first got it.
In general, women don't wear protection everyday. They just wear pads/tampons for that one week when they have their period. However, since you just started, your period is going to be irregular and you should wear a thin pantyliner everyday. Don't worry, they're not like real pads, you can't even feel them at all, they're like thin sheets of paper. They aren't burdens. This wil keep you protected if you get your period unexpectedly and will absorb the blood until you have time to make it tot he bathroom and change into a real pad/tampon. Carefree produces the best pantyliners. Your irregular periods usualy end after about a year.
After your period is more regular and predictable, you won't have to do this. Your period might come a week early once in awhile, so just wear start wearing a pantyliner the week before you're supposed to get your period up to when you actually get it. Then wear real protection when you get it. Other than that, no need for anything. Your period comes around the same day each month. I can't tell you what that is right now since your schedule is likely to change since ur gonna be irregular, but you will discover it on your own. Periods generally come 28 days apart.
WARNING: be careufl with tampons because if you leave them in longer than 8 hrs, you are at risk for the deadly Toxic Shock Syndrome. Even though pads don't pose as much of a risk, be sure to change them often too. You should alternate between tampons and pads: pads for normal everyday use, tampons for active stuff like sports and swimming. I hope that this helped and good luck!

From the first day that your period starts, you need to wear a tampon or pad every day until the blood stops coming out. This is about 4-6 days, different for different women. During those days, change the tampon or pad every 2-3 hours to be hygenical and safe. After the blood stops coming out, you don't need to wear a tampon or pad for the rest of the month.
You should record on a personal calender when your period starts. In approximately 28 days from the beginning of your last period, you will get your next period and start using tampons or pads again. For teenagers, though, the period isn't very regular because the body hasn't adjusted to all the changes yet. So keep a tampon or pad close-by just in case it starts when you don't expect it.
Also, i recommend using pads instead of tampons because tampons are easier to use after you've lost your virginity (at least in my personal experience). For some girls it's easy to use a tampon regardless, so that's up to you.

if you are over your period, count approximately 28 days from the date that you started your period. Around that date you will be getting another period. I recommend that you dont wear a tampon everyday because of the risk of the toxic shock syndrome that is accosiated with them. Also do not wear a single tampon more than 8 hrs at one time because you are more at risk for developing the syndrome. Toxic Shock syndrome can cause death. My best friend almost died from toxic shock syndrome. If you are worried that you are going to get your period and its a few days early. I would wear a pad. Pads are less expensive. But tampons are more comfortable than pads because pads feel like you have a diaper on!
your period can last anywheres from 5-7 days a month!

You only wear a pad or tampon while you are on your period. Do you have someone you can talk to ? If your not comfortable with anyone in person feel free to e-mail me and I will answer any questions you have about having a period.
Periods are usually and do vary from 3-7 days a month.
They come approximately 28 days after the start of your last period so you started on the 15th of may you should start around the 12th of june but since this is your first one you are going to have to keep track on a calander and figure out what your body is doing and take it from there as to when you should start.

To begin with, you usually only have your period for 5-7 days in a row, the starting day is usually about 30 days apart. You only have to do anything about it during that week of actual flow (thank goodness). Your period will probably be kind of off schedule and a bit unpredictable for a year or two, and you might want to wait on the tampons for a while. You're really supposed to use pads until you're about 15-16 or so. Congratulations, and welcome to the misery of cramps and and the joys of leaking through your pants in public! Be careful with that one...

You only have to wear a pad or tampon when you have your period. The other days you will just have some discharge and no pad will be necessary.

first i would say wear pads first, once you get to know your body and how your cycle is then you could use tampons. and no, you don't have to wear pads all of the time, just when your cycle comes which is about every 28 days or so. you might want to wear pantyliners in between your cycles. they are very thin, comfortable and keep you fresh.

Periods vary with each individual. Some people only go for maybe two days and others go for seven or eight. You should be able to tell when your period is ending. It will get lighter and lighter.
