I believe we have become a world that obsesses on averting disasters and not enough just doing things that make us happier. Try reading this book that was just published last month that prioritizes the "threats" we should concern ourselves with. Finally, yes, I think George Bush has prevented many 9/11's. He did a job he was given by a majority of the nation. Only history will judge whether the courses of action he chose were correct.

Beyond Terror: The Truth About the Real Threats to Our World
Chris Abbott, Paul Rogers and John Sloboda, April 2007 (Rider)

Report Cover Is international terrorism really the single greatest threat to world security?

Since the 9/11 attacks, many Western governments assume terrorism to be the greatest threat we face. In response, their dangerous policies attempt to maintain control and keep the status quo by using overwhelming military force. This important book shows why this approach has been such a failure, and how it distracts us from other, much greater, threats:

* Climate change
* Competition over resources
* Marginalisation of the majority world
* Global militarisation

Unless urgent, coordinated action is taken in the next 5-10 years on all these issues it will be almost impossible to avoid the earth becoming a highly unstable place by the middle years of this century. Beyond Terror offers an alternative path for politicians, journalists and concerned citizens alike.

I think he is involved with quite a few shady deals (gas and oil mainly) but I don't think he has averted another 9/11

When did he avert the first one.

That cognitive deficit is showing again. You really should have that mental condition checked out. The term for it in psychological circles is dementia.

Compare the physical damage of 9/11 and the collateral damage and he has done far more collateral damage than the terrorists did in direct damage to the US and the world.
