We're both 20. I've known this guy since I was 12, he's practically a brother to me. THe other night he called me drunk and said he was in love with me. I don't know if I can trust him since he was drunk and could have been lying. He has a reputation of being a player (since I know him well), and he said he used to be into girls that were easy and all of this stuff, but he wants someone innocent like me (he knows I'm a virgin and that I'm planning on waiting until marriage and he said he really respects that)...what should I do? I mean, I like him and all, but I just see him as a brother, and I feel like he might try and take advantage of me and isn't "in love" with me like he said...help??!

There is nothing like romance or sex to mess up a friendship. You already know he is not loyal to the woman he becomes involved with. Do you really want to take a chance on him?
Also if you feel he is like a brother to you and you think of him that way. I have to wonder why you would even consider changing your relationship with him.
Another point I have, how do you know he was really drunk? He could be playing you.
No matter what the case scenario is. Is it really worth taking a chance?

don't eve go there. I've seen it happen a million times. you've been friends since childhood, and you're really close, so you think maybe there might be something there and start dating this guy and then you do something you both regret and everything becomes awkward and you can't even look at each other anymore. if he's like your brother then dating him would be like incest.

he may really be in love with you, especially since you have been friends for so long but i can tell you from experience (this has happened to me about 5 times in my life) don't ruin your friendship over this. if you are only attracted to him as a friend then don't make it any more than that. friend with benefits of any kind (even kissing) will ruin a friendship if one person has feelings for the other. it's not worth it.
if he even remembers it and asks you about it tell him thank you and you appreciate the sentiment but you are only interested in being friends.

He probably does love you. He might be wondering if that love can be romantic love. He might also be playing you! But you can take care of that by not doing anything that is against your morals, and he will soon get bored and you will have your answer!
