Because no one -- not even a paid energy czar--wants to dig under rocks finding those who ask this type of inane question.

The Government shall appoint an energy Czar not to rub us, but to create or invent cheap, economically viable alternative energy and to cause the old American tradition of inventors to come back to invent new vehicles or power plants of choice that could utilize affordable, environmentally friendly alternative energy!

Think about it.
Congress refuses to pass laws providing safe disposal for atomic waste, so we can't build any more nuclear power plants [despite them offering the long run cheapest electricity and being a domestic industry, too boot.]
Congress refuses to allow oil drilling on 21,000 acres out of millions in the Artic National Wildlife Preserve -- and despite that wildlife has boomed after drilling came to Prudhoe Bay next door.
Congress refuses to allow drilling off the coasts of Florida, even though Castro is doing so less than 50 miles away.
Congress declares must of our western states off limits to natural gas drilling -- so we have to import natural gas from Canada [and soon from Venezula??].
Congress won't ease the multiple types [17?] of special gasoline blends required each summer -- so all of those types are supplied by only a few refineries each and there is thus low competition to supply summer gas.
Congress and the President want to turn much of our corn crop into ethanol -- which is raising the price of meat at everyone's grocery store, as well as doubling the cost of tortillas in Mexico. [Btw, Brazil did not become energy independent on the strength of their cheaply made sugar based ethanol -- over 90% of the needed extra energy came from oil exploration in offshore Brazilian waters.]
You are already being robbed ... and Congress is the cause of it.

last i looked ,Cheney was our "energy czar" with his top-secret energy talks with the oil barons ! what was so secret about our energy supply that WE were not allowed to know?
