It was first sung by the Beatles in a movie called " A Hard Day's Night". in 1964. In the movie, the Beatles sing this to a girl played by Patti Boyd, whom George Harrison met on the set, and later married.

There was a song in the 80's called 'I should have known better' which was sung by Jim Diamond and was a big hit back then.

Originally the Beatles in the 60's, it's their song. I had no idea anyone else did that song,or should they?

I Should Have Known Better-The Beatles
I should have known better with a girl like you
That I would love everything that you do
And I do, hey, hey, hey, and I do.
Whoa, woah, I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me;
Can't you see, can't you see?
That when I tell you that I love you, oh,
You're gonna say you love me too, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, oh,
And when I ask you to be mine,
You're gonna say you love me too.
So, oh, I should have realized a lot of things before
If this is love you've got to give me more
Give me more, hey hey hey, give me more
Whoa, whoa, I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't you see?
THAT when I tell you that I love you, oh
You're gonna say you love me too, oh
And when I ask you to be mine,
You're gonna say you love me too,
You love me too
You love me too
