the hormones in birth control DO NOT affect your metabolism. however, the progesterone in birth control will make you feel hungry, therefore it is likely you will eat more and gain weight. just excert some self control and don't overeat.

It varies from person to person, probably depending on their body chemistry. I didn't gain weight, and my acne cleared up, one fo my friends went up a cup size or so, one my friend packed on a few pounds....
It's not that you can really avoid it, these are side effects, but none are really deastic. If someone puts on five pounds it could be because of the pill, if they happen to pack on 30, there's probably something else going on and it's not from a few little pills.
There are pills avaliable with lower dosages, which are just as effective but usually result in fewer side effects, so that could be an option if you're really worried. Tricyclen lo is a popular one I believe. Then again, you can always go on a regular dosage, and if you have any concerns, just switch over to a lower one. I went with the strong one, mainly because it would help with clearing up acne.
Talk to your doc, he or she will help find something that will work best for you!

birth control should not alter the weight of any one. If anything nothing more than 4 or 5 lbs. anything more then that is not because of the pill.
there is no best birth control pill, its all depends which one is right for you. to know that, youd have to ask your doctor.

everybody is different and so is the effect different pills have on everyone
I gained on the Nuva-Ring
But when I switched to Yasmin I was nauseous for 2 week s but did not continue to gain with it
FYI if you switch pills it won't garuntee instant weight loss it's all trial and error
Start with what interests you or you feel like it fits your life style then talk to your doctor if you expierince weight gain he/she'll gladly change your prescription

Yes, because consumption of what you have referred to is artificial and it alters the chemical composition of the body and metabolism/immunity!
