You just hurt a person's feelings by talking without thinking and you should "put your foot in your mouth" to prevent it from happening again.

Well, it's like when I didn't know the party was a surprise and I saw the guy at the mall and told him I would be at his house Friday. I said I would never pass up a good birthday party, and since your girl invited me... He said he had no idea what I was talking about since he had told her 2 months ago that he didn't want to have one..... I had BOTH FEET in mine trying to talk.....
