Did Congress and the oil companies and oil refineries learn their lesson? Yesterday the gas in my city went from $3.29 to $3.44. Glad I filled up on Monday.

No it did not work and I told more than 40 users who were spamming that stupid message it would have no effect. The "plan" was to not fill up for aa day and mentioned no real attempt to reduce the actual demand. Gasoline is in tight supply and if you were smart you would make sure you have a full tank at all times. Keep it above the 1/2 mark or even the 3/4 mark in case there is an actual fuel disruption.

I don't think you get it.
Not buying gas for one day is NOT going to hurt the oil companies. The distributors will feel the pinch... but... if you are bragging about 20 cents on a galllon?
Come one... that would be about $5000 dollars of potential profit lost for two weeks!
If you are seriously trying to think BIG SCALE....
try not driving your car for two weeks or maybe three.
If you can get one percent of the population to do that....
you could disrupt the oil companies for about 7 or 8% of their revenues.
One day!? come one.
They know, you'll be back the next day.
They'll call your bluff. (not much of a bluff to begin with)
So in short, DRIVE LESS OFTEN! TAKE THE BUS FOR THE MONTH, spread the word, be sure 10 million more people do the same... and then you'll make them FLINCH!
good luck
(i already game up driving for the last two weeks)

Those gas-outs don't work because consumers are stupid. we may not fill up, but then we just come in emptier later in the week.

The gas-out will only make a difference if people DON"T USE gas on those days. They walk, bike or whatever. Wanna see some real change, get the sam amount of people to honestly avoid using gasoline for a few days. Otherwise we just give them one slow day followed by a few big days.

Gas-outs may actually do more damage if you think about the fluctuation.

No. It was a dumb idea. If you want to hurt the oil companies, buy a car that gets good gas mileage. They don't care about a 1 day total sale. I know that people think hybrids don't really pay for themselves until you've had them for 150,000 miles, but I have heard, that if we use less gas the price will come down. Which will make that 150,000 mark lower.

One day will have no effect in fact I heard on the radio just a little while ago that gas has not topped 4.00 is some parts of the US. You want to send a message - get a smaller car or a hybrid and drive less.

It never works. It's just some stupid saying people try to spread around to get people not to buy gas. It will never work as there are still way too many people who still fill up their tank.

No, It didn't.

I haven't filled up my car in almost two weeks. I'm going to have to fill up again soon and am pretty pissed off that it's so expensive.

That's why the cost of stamps went up too....Now it's getting expensive to go and see my family or to send them presents in the mail. Thank God for the internet.

No, "Buy no gas day" doesn't change the demand for fuel. The only way to change the gas price would be to use less of it.

No, it was estimated that it would have no effect because people would just buy on another day. Going a day without driving might work.
