~~~ Hi Y.S.D., you want to know what I do in restaurants when I don't like the food? I call the waiter or waitress over and sweetly ask if they dropped my food. I then inform them that it tastes like floor. I do it with a straight face too. Usually it is fixed for me. My husband hardly ever took me out to dinner. Don't know why.~~~
There are a few ways I'd recommend to do this:
1) If the problem is really bad, immediately ask your waiter to have the manager come to speak with you. Explain your problem to the manager and either wait for him/her to tell you what they are going to do to remedy the problem or tell them what you'd like to be done to remedy the problem.
2) If the problem is with the food, immediately notify the waiter or the manager what your problem is and do not accept the same item back from the kitchen. Generally, if I have a problem with the food, the people I'm with and I leave or I let everyone else eat and do not accept a plate back from the kitchen because kitchen staff has a very nasty attitude about people complaining about food. Kitchen staff may sometimes alter the dish in a very unsanitary way to "accommodate" you after a complaint.
3) If the problem is a matter of your waiters attitude or lack of professionalism or the food wasn't any good and you've waited until the check came to complain, ask to speak with the manager and let them know that you don't feel you should pay for the meal/part of the meal/or the waiter's tip (if it is already included in the check).
Those are the ways that I can think of off the top of my head.
There are a couple things you can do, depending on how strongly you feel about your complaint.
1. You can address your complaints directly to the manager.
2. If it's a big chain and you have something you feel needs to be elevated to the corporate headquarters you can find the restaurant's web site and email your complaint.
3. Or you could take a stack of comments cards and mail one a day for a year with the same complaint on it, just to make sure you are heard. (my cousin did this because at his favorite restaurant he noticed that the employees didn't wash their hands after the bathroom or taking smoke breaks. Gross, I know, I don't know why he ate there.)
hmm i thinkw e would have to go step by step if u find anything distasteful at a resturant u could ask the waiter/waitress that you want to see the restaurant manager or the Fand B manager in the restaurant if any and then u could make down a list of legitimate complaints to them
I quietly ask for the manager and politely discuss the problem. I leave it up to them to resolve it, but I have on very rare occasions stated that I was not paying for something. The funniest complaint situation was at a Cracker Barrel on a trip where I ordered the pot roast plate and what they brought was a piece of fat in gravy. I sent it back twice and then asked for the manager. I simply handed the plate to him and said "Would you serve that to your children?". He laughed and said "my kids will eat anything, but I'll get you something else.". Very well resolved and no dramatic scene.
I would first ask the waiter to see if the problem could be corrected, especially as to the food, and if it relates to the service or lack of you should motion the manager over, or go over to him/her and voice a complaint in a quiet and professional manner. Remember they want your business and generally will be most accommodating.
Ask to speak to the manager. Then post the results on yahoo local, Yelp.com and then send what you post to the restaurant. That is my usual way of handeling a situation like that
It depends on what I am complaining about. If it is something the waitress/waiter can resolve, then I tell them. If it is something the manager can resolve, then I tell him/her. But sometimes, I will get on the internet and write the corporate headquarters. I get a lot of responses back and they always say thanks for letting them know.
you ask to talk to a manager, then you explain what the problems is and you see how they are going o fix it most of them will give you a free dessert or a discount on your meal.
I don't get out often, so very very rarely.
But if the food or the service is sub standard, then I'll speak up!
