I believe it is currently the Bugatti Veyron W16. With a top speed of 252.2 mph and 1001 horsepower, it is the fastest, most powerful production car ever made. Move over Koenigsegg!

I only have to duly add that yes, Thrust is considered the fastest land vehicle. But, if by "car" you meant the gas-propelled object or something with internal combustion engine (Thrust has 2 JET engines), then it'll be Goldenrod. It made over 600 kms/h.
