get them to READ-read with them, not TO them.
start with [depending on age ] the entertainment
section of the newspaper if nothing else. use the vocab
that they find in reading, both spoken and written.
I hope that you are an elementary teacher, not high school-
by then it may be too late.

Seek training/professional development in communication arts! I have no idea what "clarificy" is...
If you are wanting to engage your student to have a broad vocabulary that they understand (clarify), then again, I say...professional development or continuing education classes. It's too difficult to give you all the tools and knowledge needed through Yahoo Answers.

The best way to increase vocabulary is to read and use the new words outside of the text. I ask my students to pay attention to the part of speech (verb, noun, etc.) because it doesn't matter how many word you know if you don't know how to use them. My students enjoy it when I split them into teams and ask them vocabulary question and when I have them write stories using new words or poety. Another successful activity has been to use pictures to demonstrate the definitions and have the students guess the words. Pronunciation comes with time, if they hear you pronounce the words enough.
