not because they wanted to help society, but because they were wimps and guns made them feel bigger than they really were. They wanted to be able to point their gun at people, and force their authority over others. Unfortunately, they are both now cops... and actually, these are probably the worst people to be wearing a blue uniform. Both are a little mentally unstable. We went out to dinner years ago, and as a joke, my wife hid the car keys on this one guy, and he totally came unglued... we were like "OMG!". This was before he became a cop, but he just freaked when he wasn't in control of a situation. I Know, a sample of two isn't representative of the whole population, but still, these are the ONLY two I know, and both probably shouldn't be cops.

Why do cops become cops? Do they have an ego problem and are they compensating for something else??

Have you ever noticed this before, or is it just me??

My younger brother is one of the great cops He is a State Trooper. He wants to help people and to make this crazy world a better place to live in. He has always been someone that had to make peace with people fighting.

my grandfather was a cop, and my dad was a cop, and for them it was about helping people, not an ego thing. the political bulls**t came into play, like "bad cops". my dad couldnt take that crap anymore so he retired early because of it. i agree with you about the two- they should not be cops!! unfortunatly there are alot of those types out there!

a lot of people become cops for all the right reasons, protect and serve.... but after a while i think some people get caught up in the "power" part of it and its all down hill from there...

I'm not SURE, but I DON'T feel that they become cops to "protect and serve" our communities! I believe it's more of a power/ego issue! =)
