What are good products (degreaser, Simple Green, etc) and good tools (brushes, rags, pressure washer, etc.) to use to clean the engine and detail the engine bay of my car, so I can take it to car shows?
The engine is pretty clean from when I bought it, just some grease and road dust from driving it a bit.

i work at a detail place we simple green the entire engine compartment wile its running use a car brush or any kind or brush u want then hose it off lightly until the degreaser is all gone, make sure the car is running and if it sound like the car is going to atall stop hosing

yes ,you're on the right trail about the degreaser and simple green,just spary it on,and go to walmart and get a small pressure washer,and it will take all the grease and dust off,and it will make it look brand new...and it's so easy to do..and the washer doesn't cost that much,and it will pay for itself in time.... good luck,i'm like you i like clean.....

when you do finish cleaning it... spray the compartment with wd40, not hitting any rubber hoses or gromets... then run the car for a little while... it will steam out the liquid of the wd40, leaving a nice shine and it will also help protect it so the next time u clean it its a little easier

if its not that dirty then get yourself a can or 2 of engine brite making sure that your engine is warm not hot spray everything wiat 15 mi9n. and then hose off. itll look great.

i would try completely takin out the engine and trany and all that and then use mothers.
