CD's can't be affect by a magnet? hmm thats what I was told happened to my CD. why the music dissapeared off of it.
if thats not it, what will do that?

Cd's are recorded optically, not magnetically like a floppy disk, A Magnet will not do anything. a CD can be written to and erased more than once if you record it on a CD-RW disc.

No it is indeed totally damaged. It is like scratching up the surface of the CD, you cannot fix it with digital means. You can buy blank CD's for relatively cheap now, and you can pick up CD labels for as low as 10 bucks. If you get the CD labels, you must find a free CD Labeling program online to download. You can then find the image of the cover of the CD and print it onto the blank CD on which you have burned the files. If your looking to back up CD's I would say that this would be the best and most efficient way.

CD's cant be affected by magnets, If it is a CD-RW you can burn, and reburn as much as you want. if it is a CR-R, you can only burn once (if you FINALIZE the disk)
