You havt to set your servers IP address in the DMZ area of your router so it can be seen from the internet side.

The BT router has good support for port forwarding, do NOT use the DMZ, it's a lazy way to give the services and I have seen several servers totally trashed like that. You also need to set your firewall to allow these ports from the internet side.

For the webserver to work, in your ROUTER you need to forward PORT 80 to the IP of the server.
For FTP to work you need to forward PORT 21 to the server IP.

Simply forward the ports for the services you want to use from the router to the server IP and it will work.

Some people will simply place the server IP in the DMZ of the router which will forward ALL traffic.. ok if your server has a good firewall.

easiest way with out even touching your firewall is using logmein.com
you can set up a free account called logmein free
it uses 256 bit encryption as well it will go through every firewall
it wont allow you to setup a weak passwpord...so you have to login into the website.then you have a separate password to access your own computer...
it is a very good and easy solution
check it out
www.logmein.com
you will have to install the service..on your computer.and you can install it on multiple computers that you want to connect to

hope this helps

you have to forward a port on the router to the pc.
I'd suggest looking at www.portforward.com for a tutorial.

you can also try windows remote desktop top that pc.
