And this one:

There is somewhat of a difference in the "forehead appearance" of the males, but how pronounced the difference will be will vary between individuals, as Loving Heart mentioned. The only sure way it to see them in the act of spawning.

The trouble with sexing angel fish is that individuals fall out on a continuum of appearance. In general, males will be larger and have more "upright" fins. By that I mean that the angle betweeen the dorsal and anal fins (the fins on the top and the bottom of the body) will be more right-angled to the body. In females, the leading edge of these fins tend to slope away from the body more gradually. But, not all males are exactly the same and equally not all females are exactly the same. You really have to see a lot of these fish before you can be pretty sure about sexing them.

Angelfish are nearly impossible to sex accurately. Occasionally fully mature males will show a bit of a nuchal hump, which is a bump on the head just above the eyes. However, don't count on it. If you are seeking to establish a mating pair, the best way is to purchase a half dozen immature angels and raise them together. When they are mature they will pair off, and you will get at least one breeding pair out of the group.
Some aquarists also say that Angels males are often slimmer, but larger than females, and are more vibrantly colored. The dorsal and anal fins of the male are more pointed, larger, and more flowing than the female

Thats tough even for a pro. I can't do it but they say you have to look at the thickness of the body girls being wider from being full of eggs. If you hearing anything about looking for a hump on a head it's a guy that is incorrect. Females although not as common can have humps on the head.

agree with previous answers.
almost impossible....if you have only 2 angels then you need to wait and keep a close eye on them, hopefully they are a pair and you can then take note of which one 'drops' the eggs.
the problem with this....is that 2 females will commonly have eggs and take care of them, if a lot of eggs turn white more or less overnight then they are sure to be unfertilised.

You'd have to wait until they pair off and mate.
The one who lays the eggs is the female, and the one who fertilizes is the male.

Through their genital paupillae, in males, it is rounder and in females, sharper. It is the area near their adipose fin.Though it is rather hard to notice the difference.
