You can't change a .bat file's icon. You can make a shortcut to the file, and change the shortcut's icon, though.

What you have to do, is make a shortcut to the batch file, and change the icon of the shortcut in the properties menu. There is no way to directly alter the icon of the batch file, unless you want ALL batch files changed. In that case it is a simple registry edit for the file type.

the batch file, if you select its properties, you can choose the change the icon. I believe only .ICO files are supported though.

If you do not see an option to change the icon, try creating a shortcut to the batch, then change the icon of the shortcut.

If you create a shortcut to a .bat file, then you can right-click the short-cut icon and "change icon" for the shortcut.

(You know, My Computer, find x.bat, hightlight / right-click / drag-to-desktop / create short-cut here...)

you can't.

a batch program is not a real program. it is simply a source file.

your best choice would be to create an .exe file (using C) that upon running extract your batch file to a folder and runs it.
