Well, if you're going it alone there's an excellence community of artisans online that are allowed to sell only handmade goods....It's set up kind of like ebay, but without the ridiculous fees and regulations! I have a shop on this site and I've met many wonderful artists and have collaborated with a few...Made awesome friends to just share ideas with! Oh yah, and sell your work....and get your name out there....

Have something nobody else can make, or they can't make as well, or as cheaply. Make sure it's your own design. Don't use materials that can be easily found in stores.

Have a good convenient way to collect money from your customers.
Know when to say no. As a crafter, I'm able to customise, but I learned not to give quantity discounts or rush orders.

give as much as you can to you're business & count every cent.Should help you a litle.
