I think tears themselves and the process of... excreteing them, is silent or atleast too quiet for humans to hear (kind of hard to ask other critters if they heard tears...) but humans generally change their breathing when they cry, this sound seem to vary from person to person... but I don't think these sounds are connected with tears... if tears make a sound then they probably make a sound somewhat like sweat... so it's safe to say that you can't hear tears, just the sounds creatures make while they're crying...
