[Spoiler Warning!] Do you think the Spider-Man comic books are parallel with the third movie? Are the events in the movie occur in the comic books? Like do Mary-Jane and Peter really break up but still have a "connection?" Or does Harry really die? Or Peter Parker has his behavior change the way it does?

I haven't read the comic books (can't stand the format) but I have a friend who'll happily talk for hours about them. He told me about the whole Venom/Carnage setup when the first movie came out. I thought it sounded great so I was really happy when the third film tackled this plot. It left out enough bits that there's plenty for fanboys to whinge about, but as a film it's great. Venom was actually brought from outer space by that almost-husband of Mary Jane's, Jameson's son (remember him in the second movie?). But I don't think it matters that that wasn't covered in the film.

Gwen Stacy was actually the first love of Peter's life (and some argue the only) but he accidentally killed her, oops. Mary Jane was a mutual friend of theirs that he ended up marrying.

I don't know if Harry actually dies in the books, but since comic books nearly always revive dead characters (including Spidermna himself) it probably doesn't matter.

Just type Spiderman into Wikipedia - plenty of nerds have devoted hours of their lives to putting the complete and intricate details of the lives of ALL Spiderman characters on there for you to read at your leisure.

Yes, the movie is as much like the comic book as it can be. The movie leaves a lot out, because it is weeks worth of comics boiled down to a couple of hours. Peter actually dated at least two other girls before he got back together with Mary Jane. And yes the Carnage suit brings out the worst in anybody it comes into contact with--I think Peter's actions in being able to remove Carnage shows how strong of a person he really is.
