a)Work done. Simply because the units/dimension of both are same. we cannot equate time with distance. Similarly energy and work are both represented in Joules and work done on a particle is the amount of energy increased.

b)Alpha Particle. E=mc^2. Since c(velocity of light) is a constant, E depends upon m. Higher the m, higher the E.Hence, Alpha Particle.

Hey, this is a easy one pal... The first one is 'Work done on the block'... relate it to Newton's second law of gravity where he threats the surface as ether.. Hmm, the second one will be a Alpha particle. the reason being, it has 2 protons and 2 neutrons. By, Einstein's theory of relativity(special), the energy is directly proportional to the mass and hence alpha particle will produce the maximum energy.

______________________________________________________________________________
When a horizontal force acts on a body placed on horizontal frictionless surface, work done by the force equals gain in kinetic energy.

Energy equivalent of mass is given by E=mc^2

The mass of alpha particle is more than mass of neutron or mass of proton or mass of electron hence greatest amount of energy will be produced when entire mass of alpha particle is converted into energy.
