my laptop is slow and it takes me 6 minutes (literally) to get on a program

There could be several reasons.
Check this first
Delete History/Cookies/Trash Bin
Use Defrag
Use Disk clean
Do not keep videos/audio or images better back up on cd if they are many.

If you still face problem then the best and the safest Restore system.
Click on All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
Restore System
Here you can choose the dates which are bold. Better choose when your pc was working fine.

sound to me like you need to optimize it.
there are a number of ways to do this, and a number of programs available to assist.

- first, how many icons are next to the clock (bottom right)
there should be as little as possible. right click on them and you can exit them
- anything in the startup folder ( start programs\start up )
- how much memory do you have? (start\settings\control panel\system - look for total memory installed. It should eb minimum 512 Mb

try scanning it for viruses or spyware. if it's not that then try going to task manager, processes and closing some of the huge programs, if that doesn't work then try maybe cleaning up your computer a bit. Those are the things that you can try to do, what kind of laptop do you have? how much memory are you using?

spam can be checked with ad-aware (free from download.com), get virus protection and keep it updated....run the disk defragmentor from accessories --> system tools, run windows updates at least once a week and possibly get a firewall (sygate is free)....hope that helps.....
