What's a 12th exam? If you are talking about the SATs, you will get into a community college. Forget about engineering!

The choice of career depends mostly on your intrest and your parents capacity to guide you in future, like in studies, settling you in a good job or encouraging you for further studies.Arts subjects or science ,or engineering have no status symbols .Most of our indian parents force children to study subjects in which you may not have any liking. They want to see their child as an engineer or a docter. These days most of the courses have good job opertunities, and research facilities. As poor country, every parent wants his child to settle as early as possible and so job opertunities is his first choice. The mad rush to computers is an example.I don't mean any bad to this trend as long as the children are good at it and do well.
Finally discuss with your parents in the light of above remarks and take your choice.Once you decide dont grumble and frustrate.Don't leave in the middle and waste your time and money.Don't think going abroad is essential in life.We have every thing in India includung HAPPINESS
Don't miss it.
