Planting chilli seeds, should i just plant them or do they need any preperation beforehand?

I live in a very warm climate with average temps 30c, can they grow in direct sunlight?

I just planted my seeds in a large pot, where there is a lot of sun. And they're coming up well. Keep in mind though that this is my first attempt.
