Why should we obey the rule of Law.
I dont see , why they should break,
the Law, and Congress is falling over
themselves to appease them.

I am extremely disappointed in President Bush for supporting this proposal, this is amnesty, I don't care how you look at it or which way you flip it, this is amnesty! our Government is sending the message, break the law and you will be rewarded.

sorry for the cut and paste answer but I believe it hits the nail on the head, and I wrote it.

I agree, we had amnesty before and it failed to produce the desired results, we now have more illegals than then and this pig, no matter how much lipstick you put on it is still a pig.

It is not too late to influence the Senate.

Call you senators, email them, email them for you family members. If they are inundated with demands from AMericans it could fail the vote. We have to stall this until we can get rid of the Socialists in congress in 08.

www.congress.org has the email addresses for all as well as phone numbers. Since Thursday I have called twice, written four separate emails to the Senate and to the President.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, all the while expecting different results.

Gee, that sort of sounds like socialism!

Yes wait till the house gets their hands on the bill, all the fees, and the touch back provisions are going to be null and void.
The congress is doing this, in the senate they insert all the provision that seem to placate the no amnesty group, such as fees and touch back, limiting family reunification to only spouses, minor children, long waits for citizenship and such. They figure that there will be a big up roar, but after a few weeks the American public will think okay we can live with these safe guards, and will move on to summer vacation. Then during the summer when we are on vacation, all the parts that hurt the illegals will be omitted. The come September, walla amnesty is a done deal, the illegals get what they want, and the middle class tax payer gets the bill.
Trigunma> not to worry those parts you find harsh are going to disappear in the final bill.

This is a hind-sight measure. It was proposed years ago that migrant workers be issued a permit that allowed them to move back and forth as the work and seasons dictated. That proposal was made to insure that the migrant workers were humanely treated, paid by federal standards, taxed accordingly and child labor laws enforced. We are attempting to stabilize a labor force that if uncontrolled can only hurt the economy. We need those workers! They put the food on your table because Americans are so unionized that you couldn't afford to eat. Most immigrants work very hard to achieve what you regard as your normal rights...and when we begin to think about the intelligence, industry and social contributions that we have gained from other nations, we can only benefit.

While I'm normally not a member of the TinFoilHat club, things seem to be moving in the direction of creating MexAmeraCan and further globalization of our citizenship. That and the possibility of a global Caliphate make me ask my self the question "Why am I sitting in this basket and where is it going?"

The U.S. prostituted it truly is self out to grow to be the chief of the "New international Order" - by technique of sending jobs distant places and strengthening the countries that continuously finally end up turning on us (like the hot British authorities) - So, with the intention to compete with India, Taiwan, China, and each of the others - we ought to settle for slave wages that purely the unlawful immigrants are keen to take - with the intention to compete with this "new international economy" that we man made. keep in mind " once you delay your midsection finger at someone - there are continuously 4 hands pointing decrease back at you!".

Keep the heat on....write all your Congressmen and the President. They represent US...the people.

"Definition of Amnesty: Amnesty for illegal immigrants is defined as the government’s pardon for violating policies related to immigration. The federal government forgives these individuals for using false documentation (examples include social security numbers, identification cards and driver’s license among other documents) to more easily get employment in the U.S. and to be able to remain in the country. Amnesties allow illegal immigrants or undocumented aliens to gain permanent residency in the United States."

Are you a native American? Or were your forefathers born some where else as well? What else are we to do? Kill 12 million people? This is a viable solution and long over due. Every one is entitled to the American Dream. Want to really fix immigrant ion? Throw out those people who have been here for more then seven years on green cards. Yes they are here legally but it is time to choose either become a citizen or go home. They are a bigger drain on the economy then 12 million illegals the vast majority of whom would love to be citizens

Evidently not. They gave La Razza veto rights during the negotiations, if they did not approve, it did not go into the bill. Where was the representation of the American citizens? Sad to say, we have no voice in our own government.

Guess I am confused about the whole thing. Isen't it kind of punitive in nature with $5,000 fines and forcing head household members to return to country of origin and wait out the application proccess. I know they are getting a free ride, but at least it is some plan to deal with 12 million immigrants. Also, the plan is allegedly suppose to take effect with the mexican border is finally sealed off. (which will not happen because lack of commitment) I also wonder how many "immigrants" will take part in this plan because a lot of them will likely loose their jobs and/or their family will lose their entire income with the head of the household is off in a another country.
