For me, it was around the time i got into middle school (11 or 12). But I started ignoring my parents more and hanging out w/ friends alot around 13. Its completely normal for this to happen though. My parents never thought it would happen to me and my siblings, but now even my sister who entered middle school is starting to pull away. Just dont try to hold on to them forever and let them live thier life!

This is a very simple question with a very simple answer. It's puberty, guys start to seperate from their parents. They don't want to kiss mom anymore and hugging dad well is just weird. They want to explore the world of girls and guess what parents they don't want to share any of the details with you.

I stopped wanting to be around my mom when I was like 12.
But I still talk to her about alot of things, it's just not as fun hanging out with her because you have more stuff in common with your friends.

They'll probably get closer to you again in their late 30s.
If they havent started a family by then.

I agree with Jamara, my son felt I was cramping his style at 11. I felt like I had lost my little boy because his friends got more attention then I did, but guess what I also found that I could do other things without having my son underfoot. It was nice that we could do what we wanted but still communicate and he still knew that I was dad and he could come to me and when I needed him to help me he was ok with going with his friends another time. Friends are good but blood still is thicker then water.
