yes, be forewarned, hot water from a tap is not good drinking/cooking water. the metals in your hot water tank can be toxic. Even boiling it won't help. You are better off using cold water and waiting for it to boil.

Not that I know of. After getting the water in the pot and setting it on the stove, by the time I extricate myself from whatever preoccupied me while waiting for the water to boil, the pot is either empty, or the base of the pot is glowing red.

Yeah but it's better to boil cold water. Hot tap water supposedly isn't as 'clean' as cold because of crap that may be in your pipes, etc..
