I've always known that the emu is a large, flightless bird native to Australia. Isn't that the same thing? :-)

Yes of course. Its a phrase given to a social group. (usually teenagers). If you go to youtube and put 'emo' in the search engine, you will find lots of examples of kids who like to call them selves an emo. They were around when I was a teenager but we lumped em all into one category and called them goths.

Yes I would, I have a teeange daughter. I knew what goths were but when she started talking about emo people I was like what the heck are they? From what I can gather they make goth kids seem downright cheery.
