The other day i was driving and my car cut out and broke down on me, then it restarted and i managed to drive it home, it starts but feels like it will cut out now but when it cut out the ESP BAS light kept coming on, what could this be?

Hi. From the web: "The stop-lamp switch is used to tell the control module when you're pressing the brake pedal. The control module then turns the brake lights on.

The steering angle sensor is on the steering column, under the dash. It tells the control module how far you're turning the steering wheel. If this is bad, the entire steering shaft has to be replaced.

The booster diaphragm travel sensor is located in the brake booster, and tells the control module how hard you're pushing the brake pedal and how quickly."

Looks the problem is in this area.

esp has to do with eltronic stability program th bas has to do with the booster take it to the dealer common problem on mercedes i had them buy back a lemon cause of those lights always comming on

usually it's the stop light switch, not very expensive so you might try and replace it. hint: when you replace the switch, push down on the brake pedal as you replace the switch, than release the pedal and the switch will than self adjust i replaced a switch today for the same problem
