The US President has a great influence in the country because if he is erroneous, there will be chaos and the economy could plummet. Thus, vote for the best candidate.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will likely win.

Of course it matters! Now if you think it doesn't matter because of the current President, it matters even more because it is all the people in NON-ELECTED, APPOINTED positions that are really running this country.

So you have to figure out what kinds of people your candidate will be appointing.

And for the guy who thinks Guiliani will make a difference... 4 more years of Cheney, Rove, Perle, and neo-con inner circle control. Yeah, that'll be different.

So think of it this way. You're not necessarily picking the guy (or woman) who will run the country (unless for some strange reason a real leader was elected). But you are picking the guy who will more or less single-handedly pick the group of people who will be running the country, with the elected person acting as a proxy/figurehead.

The real problem is that the Dems will probably think think that this is a great idea and adopt more or less the same philosophy. Because, just like the GOP, the real people in control of the party couldn't win a general election even if they were running unopposed. So the Dems might look to put a "pretty boy" (or "glamour gal", I guess) on the ticket, so they can do what Bush et. al. have been doing the last 8 years.

They want you to think it doesn't matter. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid.

It doesn't just matter in the U.S., it matters everywhere in the world. Our current Pres. makes a ton of money off of big oil, so he does nothing about the rising gas prices. It wouldn't take much for him to rectify the situation, but since he doesn't , the world ends up paying more.

Look at the war. He lied about WMD. Now not only are our troops there, but many troops from different countries throughout the world are there. They are all dying because of his lies.

The political unrest in many countries is influenced by the actions of the president. Britain certainly would be better off if he was never elected. Peace would be a reachable goal in Israel/Palestine if he was more diplomatic and didn't believe guns and bombs solve every problem. The same holds true about the nuclear programs in Iran and N. Korea.

Throughout the world, more people are beginning to hate us. It's not just the radical Islamists. Our credibility is shot. We are no longer respected in the global community. We can thank our president for that.

Crime is up. Our health care system is sub-par. Too many un or under-insured Americans. Social security will be broke soon. The education of our children ranks extremely low compared to other developed countries. All are problems that should be addressed by Bush, but he is too busy with his failed foreign policy.

So again, it is very important not only for U.S. citizens who we chose to reside in the White in the White House. It is important to everyone in the world.

Actually there are no educational requirements for one to be elected as president of the USA. He/she must be a citizen born in America and must be 35 years of age. He/she must also be a resident of the United States for at least fourteen years. On assuming office the new president must take an oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States," to the best of his ability. These requirements are in lots of Internet websites such as www.wikipedia.com; and others. He/she and their families have 24 hour/seven days a week secret service protection.
Your question asks if it "makes a difference" who is elected to the White House. YES, it makes a huge difference. Right now we have a Republican president and a Democratic House and Senate. Every bill that comes along is many times vetoed just because of the party who wrote and presented it. Look at the Iraq funding bill that would have made Bush responsible to make progress in Iraq or get out. It also set deadlines for getting our troops home. It was vetoed by Bush and he continues to send more and more troops over there, and continue to put them in harm's way. America has no choice but to get out and today is a good day to start the pull-out. I don't give a damn what happens to the Iraqi peoples and I sure don't give a damn about the Islamic radicals there or any other place in the world. I refuse to have world terrorism hung over my head as a threat for my comfort and well-being. If Bush can't protect our country for radicals and insurgents, then why is he still in office?

The problem to me with people running for president is that these people are already powerful, have high status in society and are rich. They dont know what its like to be just an average everyday American. Why cant a regular average joe American run for president? How can rich/powerful people connect with people who arent? So to me does it matter who runs in a way yes. Actually the person would have to be literate to be president its part of the job.

Yes and know. I believe no matter how good the intentions of politicians when they start. They become a puppet. Without too much power. Unless everybody you work with has the same agenda. Which as we can see is not the case. We have a new war on our hands. It's the war of the politicians in power. It would appear not many are on the side of the working class. It seems their motives are based on more power and filling their pockets. But to answer your question. I want someone who is humble. Sticks to his guns. And preferably has faith and good moral character. And defiantly does not have lunch with the enemy.

we just found out what the difference is between a President who is a genius (Clinton) and a President who is dumber than the people who elected him
so yes, it does make a difference who the President is, but it is more important how gullible the people who vote are

nope it doesnt, the american people need to start being heard and start telling people we are tired of not being taken care of, letting these illegals into our country taking our money, that we dont have to butt our noses into other countries problems. what they need to do is close the boarders and start making companies who want to sell in america, make them make their products in america, when the chinese closed their boarders they became more advanced and more prosperious because of it, come on people lets think about it!
