Prince Charles served in the military for several years. Some of the medals he earned while on active duty, some are honorary. I really wish people would do some research before asking questions that are just going to start a fight or make the subject of the question look like an imbecile. I knew about his military service and I am American.

Military men can collect a lot of medals just by serving in a foreign country. I was with the RAF in Malaya at the time of the troubles with communist insurgents. The British Army was in considerablke danger combing the jungles but I was at a base with good meals, showers every day and peace and quiet. Nevertheless I got a medal. All medals are not equal.

Prince Charles has a four-star rank in each of the armed services - a general in the Army, admiral in the Navy and air chief marshall in the RAF.
He also has the Queen's Service Order (New Zealand), awarded in 1983; the Queen's Coronation medal, awarded in 1953 when he was four-years-old; the Queen's Silver Jubilee medal, awarded in 1977; the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal, awarded in 2002; the Canadian forces decoration, awarded in 2002; and the New Zealand commemorative medal, awarded in 1990.
Most of these are honorary only tho' - he hasn't been in any active service for 30 years.

Prince Charles served in the Royal Navy for five years and has qualification as a fighter pilot.

No he has seen no action, his son won't either, let's face it that boy is to big of a target to go to Iraq.

I know you made this entry to insult the Prince of Wales, but your slanderous, bellgerence has only served to make you look stupid:
He actually served in the Navy and earned the ranking of Commander. He worked his way up,first serving as a sublieutenant on the HMS Norfolk,a guided-missile destroyer. He went onto to serve as the second gunnery officer aboard the frigate Minerva. His next ship was the Jupiter;again his ranking was lieutenant. Charles left the Navy in1977 and had served on a variety of ships, serving many tours of duty around the world. He also served in the other branches.Charles entered the Royal Air Force after having flown 170 hours;his ranking in this branch started as flight lieutenant. He particularly enjoyed performing parachute jumping. After extensive training he became a qualified RAF pilot like his father. At the end of the military career he had not only served in the Navy, but was a qualified helicopter pilot and Royal Marines commando;but his great pride was serving aboard the 360-ton minesweeper the HMS Bronington as commander with a crew of 39.During NATO-ran exercises the minesweeper found a mine and destroyed it.
So,before you break the guidelines of Yahoo! Answers by making a slanderous, insulting post, maybe you better ponder this:There are people at this site who actually know what they are talking about;we KNOW HOW to read, carry out research and DO NOT SUFFER FOOLS GLADLY!

I believe that most of his medals have been won fair and square at the local horticultural society(biggest turnip, best bucket of spuds etc.)although he gets his servants to do most of the actual work of course. His father The Duke of Edinburgh won the second world war,the Burma campaign, the Korean war ,and the war against Japan single-handily as you can tell by the absolutely enormous array that he displays with pride,to the rest of us.We can only observe in awe and wonderment.
