Hello,

My nephew was on my pc today and annoyingly pressed the screen to show me the game he wanted to play. I saw that pressured had been applied like when your fingertip goes white if you press it. Could he have done any permenant damage? It's only a week old and I am paranoid about it getting damaged as I don't really know how durable it is. Thanks

LCD screens are pretty durable, the worst your nephew will do is leave fingerprints.

LCDs work by moving long liquid crystals to alter the way that they polarize light. When you (or your nephew) touches the screen you are squeezing the liquid crystal and moving it out of position which affects the image.

As long as you do not push really hard, when you take your finger off the screen the liquid crystal will flow back to where it is ment to be.

dont worry,t.f.t screens are built to take a certain amount of pressure, such as little fingers and even adult fingers
the strength of the screen is normally dependant on the quality of the tft monitor, cheaper tft,s will have weaker screens than more expensive models
you can buy tft screen covers similar to this one..(http://phoenix.craigslist.org/sys/316423095.html),this will give your monitor a added layer of protection, and will give you a few more years from your t.f.t
also the Fellowes Flat Screen Dust Cover (http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=FELMK170&nbs_search=C%3D400009%26S%3D400013%26M%3DFEL)is another protective cover for your tft
you will find you can buy covers quite cheap from local pc shops in your area
good luck mate!

It will take a lot more than that to damage your screen. Everything is fine, don't worry.

Oh chill. Everything is fine. Just as long as he's not bashing on it & what not. I have one & you wouldn't believe the fingers touching his baby.
