...actually, and from a scientific point of view, there are some truths to the existance of zombies, but not the mindless rampant flesh-eaters featured promenantly in the horror films, these days.

There have been scientific studies of a psychotropic drug, which was derived from a combination of plants and herbs in Haiti, which renders a person into a dead-like state; the person heart rates and body functions are slowed to almost nothing. The voodoo practitioner, who inflicted the drug upon the person, would see that the person is buried...virtually alive; later, the voodoo witch doctor would dig up the person, just as the drug is wearing off, and the person is returning to normal capacity, albeit very drugged, and suceptable to suggestion. At this time, the person would be compelled to become the voodoo witch doctor's obediant slave.

This is the bare-bones basic origins of the zombie concept; for a much more informative and graphic depiction of this idea, might I suggest viewing director Wes Craven's 1988 film, "The Serpent and the Rainbow", or perhaps even reading the non-fictioin book, from which the movie is derived, by author Wade Davis, released in 1986.

...but zombies of the brain-eating, flesh-rendering variety???...merely culled from the imaginations of the horror film writers!!!

...but who REALLY knows!!! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to look out the window; there's a report of an incoming satalite, rumored to be saturated in a strange, unknown radiating contamination.....

...stay tuned, hmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

Zombies are not real. However, the 'basis' for the original 'Night Of The Living Dead', which also became the 'satiracle basis' of 'Return Of The Living Dead' were based on a 'True Event. In the 60s, during the Vietnam War, there WAS a U.S. experiment that regenerated dead cells and tissue. It was a gas that basically made dead people's bodies 'twitch' as though they were alive again, even though 'twitching' is all they did. It is also 'true' that a 'barrel' containing this gas fell off a transport truck and was never found. The gas was never used for warfare, because 'twitching' corpses served no purpose, afterall. However, George Romero came up with 'his' idea on zombies based on these actual events. And 'Return Of The Living Dead' actually used the 'true' barrel event and fictionally expanded on it. But, alas, zombies are not real. They only exist in the warped spaces of our BRAINS! ;-)

Zombies, like all supernatural beings, are real only to those who are superstitious.

Yes they are real.

But all that you read about 'zombies' is not real.

You would enjoy the movie 'The serpent and the rainbow' all about voo-doo etc.
