Incredible that people cannot use a 3 letter word properly . Spend any amount of time on these boards and you'll see that far more often than not, people use the word " To " when they should be using the word " Too ". And those words clearly have 2 different meanings . They are in no way interchangeable . Now, it's actually a rarity to see someone use the word " Too "

What the heck happened ?

Too true my friend.

Being here is just about the same as being in a classroom, where higher capacity learners must accept or come down to the lower.

When I signed up for Y/A I had hoped to engage in something above the "chat-room" forum. It is slightly better, but there is the lower element that care very little about intelligent expression.

Truth to tell, though this is aggravating, it is the hatred espoused by so many that bothers me more.

When I went to school and, later my children, I believe that we were given a well rounded education. Not only were we taught to spell words but we had to know the definition of each word and every week we were given a new list to learn.

Now, as I watch my grandchildren go through the eduction system, I have noticed that they are taught the things that the school are going to be tested on in the standardized tests and not so much what we were taught. Spelling seems to be important but not definitions. As a matter of fact, my oldest grandson will soon be 9 and he is in his last week of the third grade. He too, is given a spelling list every week along with a list of things to do with the words. Each task is assigned a point value and he has to get 20 points a week. There is only one thing worth 20 points and that is looking up the definitions. He only does that one if his parents make him. He does not have to learn the definitions of the words, only how to spell them.

I think that is cheating the children. Spelling is useless if you do not know what the word means, in my book.

you assert that the proper word 'ego eimi' - i'm - is translated precisely a similar in all 40 seven cases curiously in the NWT. however, it quite is a deceptive argument that fools in basic terms people who're no longer attentive to biblical Greek and the concepts of translation. that's because of the fact the present annoying style of the verb 'eimi' isn't continually translated into the present annoying in English yet from time to time in the suitable annoying - that's appropriate no longer in basic terms to the NWT yet to *all* of the main conventional English translations! indexed under are to examples of a Greek word that has one in all those 'eimi' in the present annoying yet is rendered in the suitable annoying in English translations: John 14:9 - ???????? ?????? ???' ???? ???? such time with you i'm John 15:27 - ??' ????? ???' ???? ???? from beginning up with me you're In the two situations, conventional translations such because of the fact the NIV and NASB persist with the translating concepts that the NWT did in John 8:fifty 8 - John 14:9 - I even have been between you this way of long term. (NIV) John 15:27 - you have been with me from the beginning up. (NIV) observe using 'have been' in the two verses for a Greek present day annoying unique, merely like the NWT in John 8:fifty 8.

Me three! I've seen it many times as well. Not even knowing when to use "too" could indicate apathy, ignorance, neglect, stupidity, or all of the above.

While we're asking questions, someone tell me what it means if someone says, "Where the hell were you?"

While I think I know what's meant, as written, it makes no sense to me. I don't know how the use could have evolved, but I think use of "hell" in this way may have originated as shown in these examples.

One might say, "Where on Earth were you?" To emphasize anger/bewilderment, it changes to "Where in hell were you?" But where does "Where THE hell ..." come from and precisely what does it mean?

We also say, "The hell with that!" And this means nothing to me either, UNLESS you say, "To hell with that!"

Uh oh? Can I do that? I've embedded a question in an answer. Okay, I surrender my points.

The two dogs went to the park to run and play too many times.
They ran right into the arms of two waiting animal control officers who took them off to the pound to stay for a day or two. TOO bad.

I, too, have wondered what happened to too. People are getting too lazy to spell and just write things phonetically or in "shorthand", and the rest uv us have 2 B OK w/that!

I was thinking about that as well... But it's just because people often type so fast and carelessly that they don't care that they leave off a letter or two.

the word 'too' is too much for many to grasp and severely neglected by those who simply negate the importance of the second 'o,' too.
