the truck gallops when I turn the key off. The battery is charging on high. What does it want?

The regulator in your alternator is over charging and could blow up your battery,get a rebuilt alt.

There is a voltage regulator inside the alternator. That over charging causes the light to glow. Gallops when you turn the key off is another problem make sure the throttle is all the way shut. Throttle cable may be mis adjusted.

regarding the battery ,you have to check the alternator,to check if it is recharging the batter start the truck and then remove the red positive cable from the car (while it is operating) if the truck goes off then the alternator is in fault,you don't need to change the hole thing I suppose just the carbon rods or node whatever they call,we you shut off your truck and still runs gallops they call this back fire and it mean your truck is having excess fuel input to the carburator need tune up.

that [ red ] light says the altornator has a week or no out put. when the field gets week, or stops al to geather, it.s not much longer for this world.

If it's the [ yellow check engine ] have it diagonsed
