What it says. However even if one does believe in the concept of the soul, we must consider. If your soul really is to evolve in some way or another like Christians believe to be tested and find God or like Buddhists and through learning become perfect. Then we still go through a life and death process of the soul in a way. Because we change our personalities so no, not even the concept of the soul is forever. Who we are today is not who we are tomorrow. All is transitory!

To me it means that change is always happening. It could also mean that the only thing that lasts forever is Nothing (the Source of Everything, or God)

I think it is a means of letting people down gradually. You dont get too attached to something that does not last forever. By the way, I know that love lasts forever and I am sure that if you think about it, many more things do.
This is just one of those things that we humans have to put in to reduce the shock of the reality of life

It is not the 'nothing' that don't last forever.
But the 'something' that keeps us making it not last forever that lasts forever.

everything can have an everlasting value to us, it is up to us keep that value in our mind. If we put our mind and heart into it, chances are, it'll stay forever. Remember, thoughts are eternal., Liking for something to last forever is a 'desire'. Desire is emotion, emotion is the mind, mind is the soul, soul is eternal.

in other instances, where our mind is prone to attending to distractions and spontaineity, then highly likely, the object of mind and heart's interest from before is going to be superseded.

It is all in the mind, summing up.

at an atomic level, I think it was one of Newtons laws of dynamics that states 'energy cannot be either created or destroyed' with this in mind, everything lasts forever.

However, in 2 billion years from now, most things here on earth will have changed considerably. So maybe this is what the phrase is referring to.

I agree with michaelmihin, nothing lasts forever means don't worry about this transient world, all these things of the world will pass but your soul will last forever, & we must be careful when we die, we are not shamed before God.....

Basically what it says. But then again it could also mean that you make your own luck. Somethings do last forever if you really want them to & work to achieve whatever it is that you'd like to last forever.
