my mechanic seems lovely but i just want to check, I took my motor in this morning as the exhaust was obviously blown. he's told me that the down pipe is save-able with a bit of patching but the catcon needs replacing. the catcon is £171 and with a couple of patch repairs he reckons the total should be £270.
does that sound about right? for a car that cost me £450 it seems a bit steep!

I went to Meineke Muffler shop just yesterday infact and had a Catalytic Converter and flex pipe put on....total cost>>>>$403.00
Next time I will take out the converter and trash it.

Yup. Catalytic converters are going through the roof!
