We just had bible study at my church about the husband as the head of the household. Before this I had a real problem with the concept of man as head of household but when it was really discussed and explained it made a lot of sense and isn't as misogynistic as i thought. The way I understood my pastor was that yes and man is the head of the house in a sense the leader but he is not to demean his wife in anyway. He should not require his wife to be less than who she is so he can lead. He role as leader comes with more responsibilities than rights. Personally them men that have brought the idea of man as head and how women should submit to their husbands tended to forget that those scriptures also speak of what a man is supposed to do for his wife. To me actually getting read the full passages was very inspiring to me.

The title is actually a confusing one, with all the "equal rights" stuff.

It has 2 functions:
1) spiritual. Due to the fact that sin entered the world of men by the disobiedence of Adam, the man holds the responsibility to try to right that sin. So in this the man is held by God as responsible for the Religious leadership of the family. (While Eve took a bite of the forbiden fruit, it was not until Adam disobeyed, as God commanded Adam not to eat it, not Eve)

2) The other purpose is in times of trouble. It takes both the man and the woman to get through the trouble times. The Man has to be strong during the trouble times (Storm, earthquake, or some other horrible situation) This is so that the family (especially the children) can hold on to the idea that everything will work out fine.

During these times, however, the children need someone they can turn to and be comforted. This is where the woman, with her ability to cry even in hard times, fits in. During these time the Man must provide the hard care while the woman the provides the soft care. It does not mean the woman does less, nor that the woman is weak. It is simply the natrual way to address both needs at once (the power of two for one).

These are the reason that the Man is the Head of the Household. Out side of these, a true man is respective and shares the role of Head of Household with his wife.

The IRS's role is bogus, and just another way to try to trick people out of extra tax dollars, in violation of the 14th amendment.

It is biblical and the IRS uses it on the income tax forms!!! I have always held my husband as being head of my household, even though there was a time when I made more $$$, before I became a mom and wanted to be at home with my little ones. I do plan on going back into the job world and making more money...every good king needs a good queen. My man is holding it down, bring home the bacon (and sometime frying it), pleasing his woman, being a good father to his kids and working his butt off as a soldier. Don't mind calling him the head of my household, he deserves the title!

Husband is equal in the household to me, not the head. A house does not need to be 'lead' like a business or an army. I too work (part time), have young son (2 mths), and take care of a house.
My husband works (full time) takes care of our boy (a day on the w/end and 1/3rd the evenings and takes care of his duties around the house.
Marriage for us is that - partnership with no head and no tail :)

oooh...how i hate that statement. We both bring home a paycheck and I have every right on the house as he does. If he's the king then i'm the queen. Whoever created this statement should be shot..i bet it was a man.

That is what Women's rights were all about. If we can make the money, we have the right to make or at least have an equal part in the decisions.
