let x = sin^(-1)(15 / 17)
cos x = a / 17
17² = a² + 15²
a² = 17² - 15²
a² = (17 - 15).(17 + 15)
a² = 64
a = 8
cos x = 8 / 17

x = (sin^-1)(15/17)
sin x= 15/17

sin^2 x + cos^2 x = 1

cos^2 x = 1 - 15^2/17^2
=(289-225)/289
=64/289

cos x = sqrt(64/289)
= 8/17

Let theta = sin-inverse 15/17
so sin theta is 15/17
but we need cos theta
using formula cos theta = sqrt ( 1 - sin^2 theta)
we get cos theta = 8/17
