I want to know why black guys limp and grab their crotch when they walk? I have heard it described as the "ghetto stroll", and I have asked a few close friends but have not gotten a solid answer. Why do they have to hold onto their johnsons as if they will fall off or something? Or do they have to constantly remind themselves that it's still there?? What is this about?

I've seen this before. Never really understood it. Maybe because they tend to wear baggy clothing and they need to "neaten" things in their pants all the time.

It's a symbol of "power" & "manhood". The white conquerors of the land stripped the African forefathers of all power and called them "Boy" because, as we know, the white males knew that they would be beaten had they been fighting fairly - without guns.
When did crotch grabbing start, 60's? James Brown or something? Anyway, the early blooming days of "Black Power" and men reclaiming the truth of their fierce manhood. Well - they've proven their empowerment point a million times now, eh? Hopefully soon it will just be a Known Fact that men are not only colorless but black as night too, red, yellow, brown. Then they can just WALK vs. swaggering like cowboys and holding their junk.

wasn't aware that black men still walked like that. I thought it was only in those '70s movies. Good thing I don't pay enough attention to notice.
Maybe they have to do a check. Or maybe the cupped position of the hand enhances the crotch, making it appear larger.

I've never really seen alot of black guys to this, but I know what you mean. It's so gross. I don't really know why they do it either than the fact that it will draw attention to their nether regions by passers-by. I guess it makes them feel important or something.
I actually thought it was more so b/c the guys I've seen who do this usually wear really baggy pants and no belt, so they have ot ocnstantly hold up their pants. Or maybe they just like touching themselves in public. Eeeewwww!

I don't notice a limp but I see the crotch-grabbing all the time and it's offensive, just like the dropped drawers.

I thought men (of any race) grabbed at their crotch area when their balls itch. But I really don't know anyone that walks around like that.

there are a few reasons as to which my friends have told me.
# grabbing or tonching is their signs to say they have BIG
#or they tonch when its discomfortable
#or itching or sweating
#or positioning it while walking or sitting
# or they are horny and trying to control it
# or they have got the Best
BIG AND BEST are usually the signs to let both genders know about it.
Or Discomfort of sweat,itching ,etc are also reasons to it.

it is not just a 'man thing' because not all cultures do it...but black men do this very often.
