After a item is deleted from recicle bin it's over right? Doesn't exist at all and no way to retrieve it?

I'm worried that I might have like 2000 unwanted files.

Nope, it's still there! But not to worry, as sooner or later it'll be written over,(and over, and over). But the pro's can recover it for sum ducketts if you really want the info back. Once the information is deleted though it's not taking up your harddrive space. This is why if you get rid of your computer the harddrive should be melted down, as smashing it still doesn't do it, not even burning in most cases, your personal info is still there! Some of the new programs that use a 'blowfish' algorythm,(where it writes 100's of times over it), work pretty good, but who knows!

To you the file is gone. But the data from that file still takes up space on your hard drive. The data is written in binary on the hard drive the only way to completely remove the data is to write zeros (there are programs to do this) over that portion of your hard disk drive.

If your computer was ever stolen and zeros were not written over the data, the thieves could retrieve that data, if they had the software to do so.

So my answer is yes and no.

actually, this is wrong. when you "delete" a file from your computer, its not actually removed from the system, rather, the system is told that this data can be overwritten with new data...after deleting a file, its possible, with some software, to recover it, and other things that have been deleted...the only way a file cannot be recovered after deletion is if it has been overwritten...there are programs out there that can write "garbage data" to your hard drive that will permanently destroy a deleted file you may want to get rid of for good. hope this helps :)

Nah,
Only the storage location used by it is marked as 'free' to be allocated to some other resourse and in windows environment explorer.exe can't show it .You have to use
recovery s/w's to get info back (if it still resides on hard disc).

Yeah, don't worry. It's not eating up your space anymore. You can consider that file gone. No one will retrieve it unless they're a techy, lol.
